Botev Plovdiv

PFC Botev Plovdiv is a club from Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The club was founded in 1912 and the name of the club was chosen in order to honour the great Bulgarian revolutionary Hristo Botev who fought and died for the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule. Botev Plovdiv play their games on stadium "Hristo Botev" with a capacity of approximately 25 000 seats which needs a big reconstruction in order to fit UEFA licensing criteria. At present Botev Plovdiv's stadium hasn't got a license. The club's colours are yellow and black. Biggest rivals are local neighbours Lokomotiv Plovdiv. The biggest success on the domestic scene of the club are the two championship titles from 1929 and 1967 and the two Soviet Army Cups from 1962 and 1981. Nicknames - "the canaries" and "yellow-blacks".
