Whoops! This isn't very good news for England, who really needed him as a 'supersub' and penalty taker.

'David Beckham's dream of playing in a fourth World Cup looks over after he tore an Achilles tendon in AC Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo on Sunday. Beckham was unchallenged when he suffered the injury and hobbled off in pain before being stretchered away. The 34-year-old was hoping to be part of England's World Cup squad in June. But he will now fly to Finland on Monday to have surgery on the Achilles, according to AC Milan club physician Jean Pierre Meersseman.'

Ivica Dragutinović probably will miss WC due to injure. Yesterday in Sevilla, on training session, he ripped Achilles tendon. Same as Beckam in the post above, he will fly to Finland on additional medical examination.

Due to a rib injury that needs surgery, Germany will be without No. 1 keeper René Adler (Leverkusen). Manuel Neuer (Schalke) is expected to take his place, with Tim Wiese (Bremen) being No. 2. It's not clear yet who will become the new No. 3 keeper. Could be Jörg Butt (Bayern) who already had the same job at EURO 2000 and World Cup 2002.

Defensive midfielder Simon Rolfes (Leverkusen) is also out of contention for the World Cup, due to a knee injury. And yesterday, German coach Joachim Löw announced that he won't nominate Kevin Kuranyi (Schalke, 18 Bundesliga goals this season) "for tactical reasons".

I think Löw should take Frank Rost... Butt already had his World Cup experience.

I've just read this morning that a French big PC-video store is ready to reimburse all PCs-TVs purchases made in May if France is winning the WC.
Well, they don't take risks Wink but it's the first time I see such kind of ads.

I think that's a great idea for advertising. We had the same for Croatia during Euro 08, and i've heard of it somewhere before.

I think they cannot lose. If chances for France to win WC are let's say 10%, this offer will probably increase monthly selling by much more, i assume by 20-50%.
And even if France will win it, even if they will be at loss, it will be such an advertisement for them, that they won't regret. Even if they lose, they will surely lose less than if they paid many expensive TV advertisements, while effect will be similar.
